Chairman of Constitutional Court of Indonesia Visits Delegation received CACCJ

Jakara, Constitutional Court Online - On the sidelines of the 7th Conference of the Constitutional Court, Se-Asia (The 7th Conference of Asian Court Judges or CACCJ Contitusional 2010), Chairman of the Constitutional Court of Indonesia, Moh. Mahfud MD received a delegation visiting several countries including Kazakhstan, Austria, South Korea, and Brunei Darussalam. This visit aims at exchanging information and experience between the Constitutional Court of Indonesia to the country, Wednesday (14 / 7), in the President Suite, Hotel Ritz Carlton.

At the beginning of the meeting, welcomed the visit of President Mahfud Constitutional Council of Kazakhstan Rogov Igor Ivanovich CACCJ representing Kazakhstan in 2010. In these conversations, Ivanovich explained, Kazakhstan does not have the Constitutional Court (MK), such as Indonesia. "In our country do not recognize the Constitutional Court (Constitutional Court), but we have a Constitutional Council (Council Court) which has authority similar to the Constitutional Court of Indonesia," he explained.

According to Ivanovich, the Constitutional Council of Kazakhstan's role is to maintain and run a constitution. "However, we have the authority to advise lawmakers to draft legislation that does not violate the constitution will be ratified as the authority of the French Constitutional Court," he explained.

Meanwhile, Vice President of the Constitutional Court of Austria Briggite Bierlien share information about the authority of the Constitutional Court of Austria. After meeting with the Delegation of Austria, Mahfud MD received a visit from judges of the Constitutional Court of South Korea Lee Dong Heub.
