Signing of the "Jakarta Declaration" A Commitment to Enforcement of Human Rights and Democracy in Asia

Jakarta, Constitutional Court Online - Chairman of the Constitutional Court of the Republic of Indonesia, Moh. Mahfud MD, along with the six-Chairman of the Constitutional Court and the Institutional / similar bodies from several countries in Asia, signed a "Jakarta Declaration" on Monday (12 / 7) afternoon at the Plenary Room Constitutional Court of Indonesia, Jakarta.

The six representatives of these countries is Lee Dong-Heub (Justice of the Constitutional Court of the Republic of Korea), Tun Zaki Tun Azmi (Chief Justice of the Federal Court of Malaysia), Jamsran Byambadorj (Chairman of the Constitutional Court of Mongolia), Mariano C. Del Castillo (Justice of the Supreme Court of the Republic of the Philippines), Chut Chonlavorn (President of the Constitutonal Court of the Kingdom of Thailand), and Bakhtiyar Mirbabaev (Deputy Chairman of the Constitutional Court of the Republic of Uzbekistan).

This signing is a form of mutual commitment between the Constitutional Court of Indonesia with the Court and the Institutional / similar bodies from several countries in Asia to promote the protection of human rights, a guarantee of democracy, the implementation of the application of law, independence of the Court and similar bodies, as well as cooperation and exchange of experience or information in among its members.

"To officialy launch the Association of Asian Constitutional Courts and Equivalent Institutions (" the Association ") as an independent and non-political forum for members of constitutional courts and equivalent institutions to exchange Experiences and information on the shared concern on constitutional cases and Jurisprudence for the promotion of the rule of law, democracy and human rights, "said Judge Harjono Constitution, when reading one point declaration.

This declaration is a series of events Conference 7th Asian Constitutional Court Judges (Conference of Asian Constitutional Court Judges) will be held on 12 to 15 July 2010 in Jakarta by the Constitutional Court of Indonesia. This conference is planned to be followed by at least 26 countries, including some countries outside Asia, such as Austria, Germany, Turkey, Mexico, Morocco and others.

On the same occasion, attended several representatives from several state agencies in the Embassy Indoonesia and friendly countries, especially from the countries members of the conference.
